It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here...

It's June 29, 1968. Pink Floyd has just released A Saucerful of Secrets.
Syd Barrett's last PF album.

I'm probably the only one who looks way too into the personal history of bands... (It's kind of my thing though. I find it interesting.)

But this song makes me sad.
It's Syd slipping far, far away into dark places:
"I don't care if the sun don't shine,
And I don't care if nothing is mine
"

Very cool. The English brand of psychedelia, to me, seemed to be far more inventive than what US bands of that time were producing. Syd had virtually zero input on the second album and it suffers because of it.

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn was their strongest work until Meddle.
