Top 5 Live Albums

Here's a top 5 list for ya... what's your favorite live album?

My 5... in no particular order:

The Allman Brothers - At Fillmore East (1971)
~~Stand out track: "Whipping Post" It's almost 23 minutes long! Pure awesomeness.

Eagles - Eagles Live (1980)
~~It's debatable as to how "live" this album actually is. It's not one of my favorites, but the stand out track for me is "Seven Bridges Road" Harmony at its best.

Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive! (1976)
~~Stand out track: "Lines on My Face" Great song.

Eric Clapton - Eric Clapton's Rainbow Concert (1973)
~~Just recently came across this album. What's not to love? This was Clapton's "comeback" concert after he had been encouraged by Pete Townshend to get out of his drug stooper. With Pete, Ronnie Wood, Ric Grech, & Steve Winwood altogether. Very sentimental version of "Presence of the Lord".

Fleetwood Mac - The Dance (1997)
~~Stand out track: "Silver Springs" Check it out on DVD... it's even better when you can see the Stevie/Lindsey interaction on stage. Wowzers.

Rock on!

There are so many that I wouldn't know where to begin, but the Allmans at Fillmore East would definitely be on the list, as would EC' Rainbow Concert.

Hmmm...wonder where you discovered that Clapton album :-)

My favorite live album was never officially released, but instead is a bootleg: King Crimson: Live at the Filmore East 1969. The rendition of "Epitaph" is in my opinion the greatest musical moment I've ever heard. Greg Lake's passion is unreal.

Some other standout live albums for me are Nirvana: Unplugged, Metallica: Live S&M, David Gilmour: Live at Gdank and Bob Dylan Bootleg Series Volume 6 1964.

Allman Brothers at Filmore East---definitely awesome. A couple of other ones I enjoyed are The Who Live at Leeds and Cheap Trick at Budokan.

@ guru - Haha yep, I discovered that one through your website. Love it, thanks!

@ Jeff - Haven't heard most of those albums you listed, but I do enjoy David Gilmour's. The DVD of it is even better.

@ Whizkid - Ah yes, The Who and Cheap Trick live albums are good too.

@ N&D - Noggin! :)

Dylan goes electric--

Anyone?

The gratest thing to ever be recorded since tape was first invented.

I also dig the MC5's debut.
Wild stuff, that one.
