Hello, blogsters!
After one month and several "I-miss-my-blog"'s later... I'm back! Finally.
I've got a new look here and I've decided to drop my comment moderation -- nothing bad was going on, guys. I just wanted to moderate there for awhile. But now, come one, come all! I'm still reading everybody's comments so no need to worry about that. Your voice is being heard!
Hope you've been well & I hope your fall is off to a great start. (I love fall!!! Football and cooler weather. Plus the holidays are within reach.)
I know I lost some of you, so I'm going to go back and find you guys. :)
Well, let's get this partay restarted!
Have yall heard about Tom Petty & the Heartbreaker's massive live anthology that's coming just in time for Christmas? Take a look:

Wowzers. Tom Petty overload.
I love Tom Petty's greatest hits album, but honestly I could listen to just that and be fine. I just can't get into all of his other songs (which I'm sure are great) that aren't as popular (or accessible, I suppose). There's TONS of them, too.
He was 56 in this -- he's definitely still got it:
So... whaddya think? Do you like Tom? I think his voice is one of those that either you love it or hate it. There's no in between. Kind of like the lovely lady that joined TP&tH on this tour: Stevie Nicks (see, I always manage to relate my thinking back to Fleetwood Mac somehow! Can't help it... all my fave peeps are connected in some way). As well as Bob Dylan or Janis Joplin or Jim Morrison or Bob Marley.
I say: Alright, Tom, grab Mike and Benmont and bust out on another tour!
**UPDATE: What do you guys think of my new header? I just whipped it up in about ten minutes, but I think it came together quite nicely!! Hope you like it :)

About Classic rock girl!
I'm a college student who grew up two decades too late and missed out on some fantastic music. I relive those years through this blog, by talking about anything and everything rock music related from the '60s, '70s, and '80s-- with some of "today's" music thrown in for good measure. Enjoy!

Yeah!!!!! I am so glad you are back! The new TP sounds incredible!
Tom put out one of the finest late period CDs of anyone in his age demographic with The Last DJ in 2001. He's been one of the only rock artists who has fought against record company price gouging (putting his career on the line for it in 1981), he keeps his ticket prices fair (I had great seats to see him for 60 bucks on the 30th anniversary tour) and he's an excellent musician who understands the mechanics of songwriting. The only thing that you could call him on is the fact that he hasn't experimented very much with his approach, but he probably sees no need to reinvent the wheel.
The new header is cool.
Hey, so glad to see you resurfaced! Been looking for you. Like the new look.
Yep, Tom's still got it. He can reach across the generations. My college aged kids are just as big of fans of Petty as us boomers.
I really dig Tom and his approach to the written song. Down to earth and a laid back good old rock and roller. Great choice of song in the video above. I also dig your new header. Very cool indeed. Welcome back.
WELCOME BACK! Very nice new look.
I like Tom Petty OK. Obviously, he's an excellent song writer. His voice is servicable and certainly distintive.
Did you see that the little girl who inspired John Lennon's "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" just died? From lupus...she was 46. It's an interesting story and possibly blogworthy.
Love the new look, sweetie! Glad you're back.
About Tom... I've seen him many times, including with Dylan, probably back in the 80s. Tom Petty was the first concert I ever took my son to, other than Arlo Guthrie and Pete Seeger when he was 5.
I've always liked Tom Petty--good, classic American rock and roll. The only downside is that man, some of his songs are boring as hell. "Free Falling" comes to mind. Snoooooze. He's best when he's rockin'.
Again, glad you're back! XOXO
Glad to have you back! Love the new look!
